Turkey Shoot Benefit for Wayne Hurst December 12th

On December 12, 2009, next to the West Orange Girls Club, the Ocoee Lions Club and the Rotary Club of Ocoee will be having a turkey shoot fundraiser for Wayne Hurst.

Why are we having a turkey shoot fundraiser for Wayne Hurst?

In 2001 Ocoee native Wayne Hurst decided to donate one of his kidneys to a complete stranger. He did this in honor of his father who passed away of kidney failure when Wayne was 8 years old. He thought he could make a difference in one person’s life… and that he did. The recipient of Wayne’s kidney is a happily married man now with a beautiful baby. Unfortunately, after Wayne’s yearly check-up he discovered that he is now in kidney failure and is in need of a kidney transplant. Wayne will be out of work for some time and although he has medical insurance, it will not cover all of the costs. Please join us to help raise money to cover some of his costs.
