  • Soggy but Merry Ocoee Christmas Parade

The Parade was better and more merry than anticipated, considering the conditions. There was a light but soaking rain that seemed to start shortly before the Parade began and end soon after the Parade finished. The Parade featured bands and dance routines, Disney characters, great floats, and an appearance by Santa Claus at the end. Tv was not available this year because of the rain.

The Parade started at 10 am Saturday, at the intersection of Maguire Road and Enterprise Street. It wrapped through the old center of Ocoee and finished at City Hall.

Here are the top entries in each category, according to the Parade judges. Overall winner was the City of Ocoee Parks & Recreation Dept “Good Ship Lollipop” float.

    Garden Cathedral Church of God
    Women’s Club of Ocoee
    Disney Characters–Pluto and Goofy
Young Blacks in Action Community Band & Dancettes

The Parade was presented by the Ocoee Lions Club in conjunction with the City of Ocoee. Lions Club members organized the event, and handled set up on Parade day.

Thanks to all the entrants and spectators for braving the damp conditions.
