  • Food Baskets Provided to Local Families in Need this Christmas

Posted on January 23rd, 2010 Ocoee Lions Club No comments

Lions prepared food baskets for Ocoee families in need on the Saturday before Christmas. Some of these families are having trouble making ends meet, and some cannot afford the holiday celebration dinner. Approximately 130 baskets were given out that Saturday.

Recipient names were provided by The City of Ocoee Holiday Toys for Kids in Need program and the Christian Service Center for Central Florida, among others. Funds for the food baskets come from donations from individuals and community businesses, and from Lions fundraisers, such as turkey shoots. Thanks to the volunteers who helped sort, pack and distribute the food baskets, including those of Boy Scout Troop 198. Have a look at photos below of some of these volunteers at work.
