Lions Put the Pedal to the Metal

It was an exciting weekend of powerboat racing on Starke Lake. The Ocoee Lions Club, in collaboration with the Women’s Club of Ocoee, supported the APBA Stock Outboard Winter Nationals boat races, held March 12-14. There were 123 boats at the event. They arrived from 18 States, including Florida, California, Washington, Wisconsin, Maine and even Hawaii. According to the Race Director, Scott Glosser, all the racers love coming to Ocoee.

The Lions Club and Women’s Club sold hamburgers, hot dogs, corn dogs, chicken burgers and onion rings out of the familiar red Lions caboose. A Saturday night lasagna dinner at the Women’s Club building was also well attended. 100% of the Ocoee Lions Club share of the the profits from the fundraiser will go to the charities and projects the Club supports. If you liked these boats you’ll also like the upcoming US Title Series methanol-powered boats, coming to Starke Lake as soon as April 16-18.
