We serve. We are part of the world’s largest service club organization. We assist the sight and hearing impaired so they can fully participate in our community. We roll up our sleeves, and involve ourselves in our community through fundraisers and events.

  • Steve Van Varick Elected Club President

    Steve Van Varick has been elected Ocoee Lions Club President for 2010-2011. An installation ceremony was recently held for Van Varick and other incoming Officers of the Lions Club. Pictured is Past Club President Cathy Sills, handing the gavel over to Van Varick.

    Van Varick was also awarded Lion of the Year award for this past year for his dedication to the Club as well as efforts to promote Lionism in our Community. Van Varick never fails to be available when anything is needed.

    Miriam Baderian was elected to serve as the new Club Secretary. Governor Shel Reichard attended the ceremony and performed the Installation of Officers.

    Since the Club’s chartering in 1948, its members have worked on a variety of projects in the local community, such as providing eyeglasses and hearing aids, organizing the Ocoee Christmas Parade and providing food baskets for those in need at Christmas. Proceeds from past fundraising events have gone to the West Orange Girls Club, the Boy Scouts, S.T.A.R.S., Haiti relief, and Leader Dogs for the Blind, to name a few. The Club is currently preparing for its fall fundraising events.

    The Ocoee Lions Club has 33 members and meets on every second Monday at 7 pm at 108 Taylor Street. Lions Clubs are a group of men and women who identify needs within the community and work together to fulfill those needs.

    Lions Clubs International is the world’s largest service club organization with nearly 1.4 million members and approximatley 46,000 Clubs in 193 countries and geographical areas throughtout the world. Since 1917, Lions clubs have aided the blind and visually impaired and made a strong committment to community service and serving youth throughout the world.
