The weather was perfect, with blue skies for the Ocoee Christmas Parade on Saturday, and spectators lined the route. Marching bands, horses, dignitaries, Disney characters, dancers and finally Santa Claus paraded through the City. The Parade started at 1 pm, at the intersection of Maguire Road and Enterprise Street, and wrapped through the old center of Ocoee, finishing at City Hall.
The Parade was presented by the Ocoee Lions Club in conjunction with the City of Ocoee. Lions Club members organized the event, and handled set up on Parade day. Joe and Chesta Hembrooke of S.T.A.R.S. were the Parade Grand Marshalls. Roger Freeman, long-time Ocoee resident, and Jason Brewer, Meterologist for WESH 2 News, served as tv hosts. Parade entrants also provided a large number of toys and donations for the Police Deptartment’s Holiday Toys for Kids in Need program. Thanks to all the entrants and spectators.
The Ocoee Bulldogs were the top entry according to the Parade judges. Following were the judges’ other picks for each category.
