We serve. We are part of the world’s largest service club organization. We assist the sight and hearing impaired so they can fully participate in our community. We roll up our sleeves, and involve ourselves in our community through fundraisers and events.

  • Parade Brings Holiday Cheer to Ocoee

    Residents managed to avoid late day rain showers and instead enjoyed warm weather as they watched the 2015 version of the Ocoee Christmas Parade roll by.

    The Ocoee High School Marching Knights, the West Orange High School Warrior Marching Band, the Ocoee Bulldogs, and finally, Santa and his sleigh, all paraded through the City.

    The Parade started at 10 am, at the intersection of Maguire Road and Enterprise Street, and wrapped through the old center of Ocoee, finishing at City Hall.

    The Parade was presented by the Ocoee Lions Club in conjunction with the City of Ocoee. Lions Club members organized the event and handled set-up on Parade day. Former Ocoee Mayor Scott Vandergrift was the Parade Grand Marshal. Teresa Lemons and Sean Gleason served as tv hosts. Parade entrants also provided a large number of toys and donations for the Police Department’s Holiday Toys for Kids in Need program. Thanks to all the entrants and spectators.

    All-In-One-Entertainment was chosen as the best overall entry, according to the Parade judges. Here are their top entries in each category.

  • Former Mayor Scott Vandergrift Named Christmas Parade Grand Marshall

    Scott VandergriftcropFormer Ocoee Mayor Scott Vandergrift has been named Grand Marshall of the 2015 Ocoee Christmas Parade. Mayor Scott, as he has been known to City residents, has been a resident of Ocoee for 75 years. He served as Mayor for a total of 25 years and has been a member of the Ocoee Lions Club for over 30 years. In addition to representing the interests of Ocoee residents, he raised three children. He worked for Bellsouth Corporation for 25 years and has been a Real Estate Broker for over 30 years. According to his daughter, Donna Deitrick, one of his proudest and most profound achievements was working diligently to have Ocoee High School constructed. Scott Vandergrift dedicated many hours of support for all events at the School and also donated funds to the athletic department for lighting for the baseball field. Deitrick says her father loves the City of Ocoee and loves Christmas.

    The Ocoee Christmas Parade is scheduled for Saturday December 5th, starting at 10:00 in the morning.

  • Join Us for 4th Annual Texas Hold Em Fundraiser

    Texas Hold EmThe 4th annual Texas Hold ‘Em Fundraiser and Eyeglass Collection Day will be held on the evening of Saturday, October 24th, 2015. At the Thomas Ison Center in Ocoee. First prize is a $1,000 VISA gift card. Registration will be at 6 pm, and cards in the air at 7:05 pm. Monies raised will benefit the vision-impaired. Early register and receive 1,000 extra chips by contacing Lion Fred Wilsen. Donate and drop off used and useable eyglasses, sunglasses, readers, eyeglass cases and hearing aids.   • Club Partners with Chick-fil-A for 5k & Kids Fun Run

    ChickFilA-5K-2015The Ocoee Lions Club has partnered with Chick-fil-A for the 5th Annual Chick-fil-A 5k & Kids Fun Run. The 5k race will run on Saturday, November 14, 2015, in conjunction with the Ocoee Founders Day Festival. This is a timed event on a certified course, and includes Kids Fun Runs. A portion of your entry fee will benefit the Ocoee Lions Club. And bring your used eyeglasses and donate them to the Lions Right to Sight program. They will be cleaned, categorized by prescription and distributed to developing countries where eye care is often unaffordable and inaccessible.
